MAHOGANY CDC
$1.89
Mahogany CDC is a natural dry fly tied with CDC for lifelike drift and floatation. Perfect for matching Mahogany Dun hatches in the fall.
Description
Mahogany CDC is a finely crafted dry fly designed to imitate the Paraleptophlebia species, commonly known as the Mahogany Dun. This hatch typically appears in the early to mid-fall, offering some of the best dry-fly opportunities of the year—especially on tailwaters and technical freestone rivers.
Tied with a slim mahogany-brown body, CDC wing, and a sparse tail, this fly sits low in the surface film, mimicking a natural mayfly struggling to take flight. The use of CDC (Cul de Canard) adds natural floatation and subtle movement, even in slow current or flat water, where trout can be extremely selective.
It’s best fished on a long, fine tippet and a drag-free drift during cool autumn afternoons when Mahogany Duns are active. The Mahogany CDC excels in calm pools, seams, and under overhanging vegetation where fish rise gently and inspection is sharp.
Whether you’re matching the hatch on the Henry’s Fork or fooling finicky browns on the Eagle, the Mahogany CDC delivers quiet precision and consistent results when subtlety counts most
