Description
The Callibaetis Nymph Gray is a subtle, natural-looking fly designed to imitate the immature stages of Callibaetis mayflies, which are abundant in lakes, ponds, and slow-moving waters. Known as the “Speckled Wing Dun,” Callibaetis are one of the most important stillwater food sources for trout, and their nymphs are often the key to success before and between hatches.
Tied with a slender gray body, soft fibers, and delicate ribbing, the Callibaetis Nymph Gray offers a realistic silhouette and subtle movement that trout find irresistible. Its coloration closely matches the natural nymphs, making it highly effective in clear water and during times when trout are especially selective.
This fly is best fished with a slow retrieve, either on an intermediate line or beneath a strike indicator. It is particularly productive in weed beds, shallow lake margins, and drop-offs where Callibaetis nymphs are abundant. Effective throughout the season but especially during the late spring and summer Callibaetis hatches, the Callibaetis Nymph Gray remains a stillwater essential.
