Description

Pat’s Stone Peacock Dub – Weighted Stonefly Nymph

The Pat’s Stone Peacock Dub is a productive variation of the legendary Pat’s Rubberlegs stonefly pattern. By incorporating peacock dubbing into the body, this version adds natural iridescence and a buggy texture that trout can’t resist. It maintains the same heavy, durable design of the original Pat’s Stone, while offering extra appeal during times when trout are keyed on large stoneflies or general big nymph imitations.

Design / Features

These fishing flies feature a peacock-dubbed body for lifelike sheen and segmentation, paired with flexible rubber legs that move naturally in the current. The peacock dubbing adds depth and flash to the pattern, helping it stand out in both clear and slightly stained water. Weighted construction ensures the fly sinks quickly to where trout feed, while the buggy profile keeps it versatile across multiple stonefly species.

When and Where to Use

The Pat’s Stone Peacock Dub is most effective in freestone rivers and mountain streams with healthy stonefly populations. It shines during spring and early summer when stonefly activity peaks, but is equally effective year-round as a searching pattern. Fished dead-drifted under an indicator, tight-lined in Euro-nymphing setups, or as the anchor in a multi-fly rig, it consistently produces results in deep runs and pocket water.
