Description
The PMD Emerger Foam Back is a tactical pattern designed to imitate Pale Morning Dun mayflies as they transition from nymph to adult. During this critical stage, PMDs struggle in the surface film, creating one of the most vulnerable feeding opportunities for trout. These foam-back emerger fly fishing flies perfectly capture that moment, making them a must-have fly during summer hatches.
Tied with a slender pale yellow-to-olive body, trailing shuck, and a foam back that imitates the emerging wing case, this fly has both realism and durability. The foam adds buoyancy, allowing the pattern to ride partially submerged—exactly where trout expect to find emerging insects.
